Brand K Partners seeks a highly motivated and organized Director of Accounting Services, whose main role will be managing his/her Brand K Team as well as managing relationships with various non-profit clients supported by our firm. The Director of Accounting Services will be the principal point of contact to clients for complex situations and assist his/her team in communicating the financial health of client organizations to the Executive Team and/or Board of Directors. This job is based predominantly in our Franklin Lakes Office with some travel within the New York/New Jersey region.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

OPERATIONAL:

  • Analyze and prepare financial statements on a monthly basis
  • Communicate and present financial statements to the client’s Executive Team and/or Board of Directors on a monthly basis
  • Monitor restricted grants and forecast spending to ensure compliance with funding organizations
  • Prepare fiscal projections (cash/accrual) on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare annual client budgets and present to the Executive Team and/or Board
  • Assist in client start-ups and streamline processes
  • Independently review and revamp a client’s financial reports when financial records have not been properly recorded
  • Review the Accounting Managers’/Accountants’ monthly financial statements prior to submitting to clients
  • Provide supervision and direction to Staff Accountant(s)/Accounting Manager(s)
  • Manage annual audits and ensure all required schedules are completed timely
  • Provide clients with strategic, fiscal guidance to improve and/or maintain the financial health of the organization
  • Attend Finance Committee meetings and/or Board Meetings upon request
  • Assist with client transactional processing
  • Assist clients with the preparation of the Form 990, and other benefit, tax and regulatory schedules
  • Prepare 1099’s on behalf of clientss
  • Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis

CLIENT MANAGEMENT:

  • Actively participate in initial set-up meetings with clients to ensure a clear understanding of scope of work, client expectations, reporting requirements and points of organizational contact
  • Trouble-shoot all issues with clients in a timely manner
  • Maintain on-going contact with clients to assure quality customer service engagement and active monitoring of project work and deadlines
  • Coordinating reporting of key financial data with Executive Team and /or Board of Directors

TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Hold monthly team meetings
  • Monitor client monthly closes/audits to ensure completed timely
  • Bi-monthly, connect with each team member individually/li>
  • Encourage Professional Development Opportunities
  • Prepare Employee Performance Review and Development Plans mid-year and end of year

EDUCATION | SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related area a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience within an Accounting or Finance department
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting required
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks and Fund-EZ
